Caring for your plushies.

RULE #1 IN PLUSHIE MAINTENANCE:

Brush after every use.

Brush your plishies!

If you're like me and have plushies with long pile fur (half inch or longer) then you absolutely MUST brush it after each night you sleep with it.

ruined fur
Good vs damaged.
The top of Norbert's nose (pictured left) is virtually untouched so it hasn't suffered any damage.
Norbert's back however (pictured right) has suffered permanant damage.
Had I regularly brushed Norbert, the photo on the right would still look like the photo on the left.

It was far too late before I realized the importance of brushing regularly. If you sleep with your plushie on a regular basis and fail to brush it's fur just as regularly, you'll do permanant damage to the fur; as I found out the hard way with my Norbert plushie. Fur will become tangled beyone repair and even if you do manage to untangle it, it will be frizzy and lifeless.

With my newer plushies (that have even longer fur) I always make sure they get a brush with a hard plastic round brush at least twice a week, so far so good; the fur looks good as new.

Use a hard brush but apply it LIGHTLY! Let the bristles do the work. BE GENTLE and you won't pull the fur out. A small amount of fur will come out on the brush but that's normal. Use a soft brush to finish off as it helps remove any loose fur that would otherwise end up coming out anyway.

RULE #2 IN PLUSHIE MAINTENANCE:

Don't cum IN your plushie!

Don't cum ON your plushie!

Prevent the mess so you don't have to clean it!

JohnOfE, I read on your tumblr once that you use a bag while with your plushes. I don't really, so I was just wondering if you know how to go about washing dried cum out of plush animals. Or how to wash them in general.

First off, I strongly suggest using something between you and the plushie; i take a typical shopping bag and cut it into 8 squares, it's quite easy to do and i stash them in a box under the bed next to a bottle of lube. The plastic bags are very smooth but tough and with lube, nothing sticks and it's nice and slippery at the end, but the rest of the plastic clings to your skin so it wont come off. I'm able to be as rought or gentle as i want and it feels great, no rubbing (burn) or friction at all, plus there's bit more feeling as well. But the #1 advantage is that it contains all your cum and is easily disposed of.

I have sex with one of my plushies at least once a day, if I didn't catch my fluids there would be a hell of a build up and trust me, it will stink and people will notice and I'm telling you; if you know what old cum smells like, I'll bet they do too and they'll be curious about you.

If your going to take anything away from this message of mine it's how important it is that you don't cum inside the plushies! (or on them)

I've had a few sessions where the plastic has come off me without realizing it and I've made a mess on the fur around the hole. My plushies have long pile fur and it's REALLY hard to get cum out of. First thing is CLEAN IT ASAP! If it's fresh and new, an absorbant cloth soaked in water will do a good job. Use a hair dryer and a towel to dry the fur once it's clean.

Dry cum is the same, it's just harder to remove and will take a little longer.

Also: Body odor is an issue for people like me who sleep with the same plushie more than 5 times a week. I have found that showering before bed time EVERY NIGHT reduces the odor left on the plushie.

My Norbert used to STINK really bed after a year of use and I hade to take all the stuffing out and soak him in the bath with washing powder to get him clean; the water was dark brown; just from a year of sleeping with him.

Every month I rub him down with a damp cloth and blow dry him; this helps a great deal. If you do that, you shouldn't have to unstuff it and wash it like I did Norbert.

If your plushie is dirty from extended use, I suggest you unstuff it and wash it, then maintain it properly (wipe down once a month at least).

NOTE: unstuffing will cause it to loose it's familiar shape and feel, it can take a month of sleeping with it before it will return to the way it was. It can be frustrating at first but it will settle if you stuffed it properly.

There's no need to wash the stuffing, it's also incredibly hard to dry so don't worry about it. Just concentrate on the fur, that's what's holding all the dirt and odor.

Back to the question about cleaning existing stains out of the fur (cum), try to just use water only (if your spot cleaning without unstuffing it), chemicals are really hard to rince out of fur without soaking the whole damn thing which is what your trying to avoid, just work with water and cloth and brush, take it slowly and it will eventually come out. If it's a really bad stain, unstuff and soak in washing solution and rince and spin in the washing machine.
